Herzfeld Advisors deploys a primarily quantitative portfolio strategy to identify quality risk-reward opportunities across the entire universe of closed-end funds.  Performance has historically shown low correlation to the broader equity and fixed-income markets.  The cornerstone of Herzfeld Advisors' investment philosophy focuses on the growth and preservation of capital through the strategic deployment of capital within the closed-end fund universe.

Forecasting macro economic opportunities is a formidable task.  Herzfeld Advisors does not presume to predict the future changes in any asset class.  The investment philosophy is predicated on recognizing and capitalizing on the recurring valuation patterns found in the closed-end fund industry and exploiting them in a systematic manner.  Opportunities are categorized, filtered, and assigned a probability.  It is from these probabilities that investment opportunities are selected.  Among these markets, Herzfeld Advisors takes positions in closed-end funds it believes are best positioned to exhibit favorable shifts in valuation.  This process is accomplished by:
